This Amy was born in the quiet chaos of the woods. A place that surrounded her in the southern United States. Unnoticed until a severe case of depression consumed her every fiber, she sought desperately for relief from the darkness in which she was drowning. She chose to do something different than that which was natural. She recognized that a transformation was required. She had to escape the depression and the eternal pit where she found herself. She had to move away from the chaos and carnage that was the depression in her mind. She moved alone into the wild, the unknown trails, and the streams of the forest.

This wondrous place which had always been so close now enveloped her. As with so many things in life, the woods became part of her chrysalis. The wild possessed her, creativity and hope flowed through her. Healing and growth spurred by the greens, browns, and golds found within nature and so many of her works. Those vibrant colors’ healing properties are given tribute within those works as she fully attributes the growth of her talents to Nature.

With childlike zeal Amy began to paint. Without any thought as to what she was doing or trying, she felt it bursting from her. The magic of her soul etched itself onto canvas. Shaped by the experiences of trial and error, the art of Amy stretched its wings. Fragile, flightless, and without shape, the Art of Amy Ashlyn began to take shape.

Built on her innate creativity, passion, and hard work, she has forged ahead to develop her own exceptional style. She takes each vision she has and seeks to color it, provide texture to the feeling, and purpose for the etchings. Overcoming struggles, revitalizing errors, revisiting beauty to ensure each piece speaks in its silence, as erupts into the space around it.

Not just a painting. Each piece is her story of survival. With every stroke of the brush, she remains breathing, fighting, and hoping, when everything else had previously told her to give up. As Amy so often says, “We are never too old to discover. My art is its very own language with which I speak to the world.”
